businesses grow and put ourselves on a path towards energy independence. and that's not always an easy balancing act. but with enthusiasm and skill and dedication, that's exactly what ken salazar's done over the last four years. we were just reminiscing a little bit. i've known ken since we were both running for the senate together. and became the only two incoming democrats in our senate class, people ras remembers this, it was a lonely time. we actually lived in the same building when we first arrived in washington, and ken, you'll recall, it was a little discouraging because basically everybody else who lived there was 20 or 25. so we were the two geriatrics in this building. but i came to appreciate quickly not just his friendship, which if you have ken salazar as a friend, you've got a real friend. not only did i come to appreciate his jump shot, he is surprisingly quick on the court, but also his patriotism and his belief that we have got a responsibility to care for the land with which we have been blessed. and it is not surprising that ken feels this way, after all, his ancesto

at the students and seeing if they're sort of fidgeting, moving their leg, a lack of energy in the room. going in and asking them questions and getting them engaged and seeing if they like the topic, the best teacher is very interactive. it's more performance oriented. i think it's fantastic that we're finally getting to the bottom of why are those amazing people so good. we're not saying we can get everybody to the very top, but at least we can do a lot, a lot better and it only costs about 2% of the salary base to put these observers, surveys, statistics gathering together and that is a fantastic investment. >> tell me about another trend that is sweeping education or has just begun. these massively online courses, where what i'm struck by is you have the ability now because stanford and mit are putting all their courses online and harvard putting all its courses online and everyone else will probably follow suit that you have the ability to now take courses in an interactive fashion because they're designing them pretty well with interactive software and you could be taught physics by basic

, not being able to move, not being able to expend that energy and then possibly this idea of autism or aspergers and not having structure that he's used to that helps him survive and function, all of that taken away, it was a horrendous, horrendous experience and even though he's doing well now, down the road we see that it will come back to him through some sort of acute stress disorder, or ptsd, along with a nightmare, the depression, the anxiety. his mother's going to have to show him a lot of love, which i know she will. >> is he going to be able to recover from this? is there enough therapy? is there enough love that can help this little boy through his life as he gets older? >> he certainly will be able to survive. he may even thrive. and he'll do well in his life. but this is something that will stay with him, as it has with the previous person who talked about her experience in california. we see when children go through this, no matter how resilient they are, suzanne, that at some point in their lives it plays itself back, even if they hear it happening to someone else. it

to be in a panicked state when half of the power went out. when the company that supplies the energy to the superdome said basically it was a power surge. the system thought there was an abnormality and shut down. equivalent of at your house a power breaker goes off. a breaker broke. and the half of the energy in the stadium goes off. half the power goes off. here's the thing, for those of you watching at home you had no explanation because the power went out on the side of the announcers, jim nance and phil simms for cbs. you could not hear them because the power was out on their side of the stadium as well. so fans were in the dark inside the stadium and all over the world because there was no explanation. what happened was there was a surge -- there was no fire as originally reported. and the players resumed after 34 minutes on of a power outage. >> 34 long minutes. it felt like it was a decisive moment in the game. walk us through some of the other highlights. >> yeah. you know, it was all ravens before the power outage. you just know the conspiracy theories were gearing up saying the nfl is tryi

of new york, has been on this program a couple times and the guy has a lot of energy. a couple well-known contributors who live in new orleans are leaving cnn, james carville and mary mat lin. what a challenge for "the new york times." the paper spent the last four months battling chinese hackers who penetrated its computer system after an ek po say of how the family of premier when ja bo made millions. the hackers using the same techniques as the chinese military gained access to the story's author and former beijing bureau chief. the "times" went public which could tick off the hackers and the chinese government blocked cnn international briefly while it was reporting on the story.
